Blanský Forest

It is a locality on the border of Blanské les and Šumava, between Prachatice and České Budějovice. Blanský les is a protected landscape area (PLA) that occupies an area of ​​213 square km. The largest unit of this area falls under the area of ​​Český Krumlov, smaller units under the areas of České Budějovice and Prachatice. It is a remarkably well-preserved landscape in the wider Šumava foothills with numerous valuable locations.

Kleť lookout tower

The highest peak of Blanské les is Kleť with an altitude of 1,084 m.a.s.l. After several hiking routes, you can get to Kleť from several places in the region – from Český Krumlov, Holubov, Křemže, Chvalšin, Zlatá Koruny, Brloh, etc. Already a traditional sporting event, the very demanding Running to Kleť has become. In winter and summer, it is possible to get to the top and back by chairlift, whose lower station is located in Krasetín near Holubov. The cable car is 1752 m long and 383 m high, and has been transporting tourists since 1961.

Cycling

This area is a paradise for cycling and cycling. Fans of all types of surface and terrain will find their way here, from the plains between the ponds to the descent from Kleta to the Vltava valley with an elevation gain of over 600 m. In contrast to the national park, there is no strict regulation of movement here, so in addition to the marked trails, you can also use a lot of forest and field roads, where even rougher riders will enjoy themselves. Also, the concentration of people is far from reaching the level known from Šumava cycle paths.​​

Bike tips

On your bike, you should definitely not miss places such as the castle in Netolice, the national cultural monument Kratochvíle castle, the Rožmberská oboru, associated with the names of Jakub Krčín from Jelčany and Vilém from Rožmberk, peasant baroque in the villages of Dobčice, Mahouš, Olšovice and Holašovice, but also interesting for many , the Boletica military training area, where parts of the training area, characterized by a uniquely preserved natural area, were made available to tourists and cyclists.
